English: The verb 来 (lái) here doesn’t mean "to come" — it’s the casual, conversational way Chinese speakers order food, drinks, or items in restaurants, cafes, and shops. Think of it as "I’ll have…" or "Give me…" in English. Beginners learn 来 = come, so this confuses them at first, but in any ordering context, 来 + a quantity + the item sounds way more natural than 我要 (I want).
来一个牛排 (lái yí gè niúpái): I’ll have one steak 例:那我来一个牛排和一个牛肉汉堡。 — Then I’ll have one steak and one beef burger.
来一杯咖啡 (lái yì bēi kāfēi): I’ll have a coffee 例:我来一杯咖啡,谢谢。 — One coffee please.
来两瓶啤酒 (lái liǎng píng píjiǔ): Bring two beers 例:老板,来两瓶啤酒! — Boss, two beers!
来一份炒饭 (lái yí fèn chǎo fàn): One order of fried rice 例:我来一份炒饭。 — I’ll have one fried rice.
